Interior roads were easy to navigate even with our large 5th wheel. Connections worked great and were with-in easy reach of our camper. Great customer service at check-in and then when we asked some questions later about local services. Area was kept very clean with trash pickup every morning. Beautiful campground.
Anvil Campground, Williamsburg
There was an attached parking pad for the truck at the rear of the spot but it was a bit tight because we didn't pull forward enough in our space. You get 45 minutes for the dryer which was more than enough t0 get things dry. The sights were close but well layed out with concrete pads. There are a few fancy sites in the back with gazebos and fireplaces.
You pay what you usually pay for a one day ticket but have unlimited access through the end of the year. Whether you're just overnighting or staying for a longer period of time, this is very nice park. Site pads are all concrete with an extra concrete width at one end to park a vehicle. Sites aren't long enough to leave your extra vehicle hooked up. Each site is separated from its neighbor with a well maintained strip of grass. Interior roads are paved, but there are tight corners at the end of each row. Sites aren't widely spaced, but they're not scrunched up tight either. And some trees at certain sites are need of a really good pruning effort.
All in all, it is big rig friendly. Our pull-thru site 29 was situated so that trees blocked satellite reception, but it appears there are sites in campground that would work with your satellite antenna. The park sits a ways out in the countryside, so other than an occasional train whistle, it is really quiet.
Trash is picked everyday around 11am. Staff is friendly and helpful. Laundry room is spacious with four washers and four dryers. Oh, and there is a very nice swimming pool. We'd definitely stay here again. As others have said, there's plenty to do in the area All with a minute from the park. Sites are all concrete and level.
Would have given a higher rating had the trees been trimmed. They scrapped the top and side of our 5th wheel. The interior roads are very narrow. We spent 7 days there and loved every minute of it!

We had a family reunion in Williamsburg. All of the guests stayed at the campground as well. We had 3 cabins and 1 campsite. We chose to do the Deluxe site because it had a patio fully furnished, fire pit and large grassy area around it, enough room for the family to gather at to eat and socialize. The campsite was all level concrete with great hookups and location. They offer free cable which worked well the entire vacation.
Great water pressure throughout with exception of one afternoon when another camper ran over the hookups while parking his rig and broke the hydrant. We travel with our dogs and they had a great time at the facility. We walked the park multiple times a day and never had an issue with any fellow campers and their dogs. There is a very nice nature trail that surrounds the park and gets you back into nature. All 3 cabins were in great shape, Relatively new and clean.
All the guests were comfortable staying in the cabins, some were very hesitant at first while planning the vacation. They never have camped before and thought that they would not enjoy it. To their surprise, they enjoyed it. We had 3 children in the group, and all were extremely comfortable and had a great time at the park. The pool and playground were nice and clean.
All of the staff were excellent and friendly!!!! Reserve as early as you can. We would stay here again if in the area! It is one of the reasons we chose American Heritage. It is generally a nice park but the sites are too close together. For the first two nights we were in the open area so we could get satellite reception and there were not too many people around. However, for the 2 weekend nights most the sites filled up and there were a ton of noisy kids. Location is good. Staff is very helpful. The staff is helpful. The park is very clean close enough to Colonial Williamsburg.
The sites are a little close but not too bad especially for a tourist destination. It was brutally hot while we were here but it did not deter us from having a great time. If you're into microbrewery's, I highly recommend Alewerks which is just a few miles away from the campground. Park is very well laid out, back section is very nice but out in the open.

Would definitely stay here again if in the Williamsburg area. Very nice campground with mostly pull through, level sites. Close to everything but quiet when you return to the camp. Pool was nice and fenced in dog run was spacious. I heard great things about this CG but was a bit shocked upon arrival in how small it is.
Extremely underwhelmed. Tight CG, small, quite a bit away outside of Williamsburg proper. Decent distance to Williamsburg, just a lot of traffic in the area. Nice nature trail around the campground. Sites are pretty close together. Would be nice if they provided doggie bags around the campground. WiFi was acceptable.
We stayed here in order to visit Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown, which worked out great. The park is very well-maintained and has many mature trees. There are concrete pads and patios on each site. We opted for the regular full hook-up pull through site, although there are bigger premium sites at the corner of each road in the park for about 20 dollars more. There is a pool and a nice spacious and shaded dog park. The sites were not very long and we had to park the truck at an angle by the rv which was kind of tight. We used the laundry room which was spacious and clean with several machines.
Wifi and internet were good. Campsites pictured on AH website are not what you get! We were assigned site 69 for our 35' RV. Site is an end one and extremely tight. Had a difficult time backing into the site. Pictures for full hookup show ample space between sites: this is not the case. One adult can barely walk between our site and the next one. Rig barely fit on slab.

Talked with front desk woman, showed her pictures and she would not acknowledge we had been assigned an inappropriate site for our rig. When I pressed, her goal was to get me out of the office by saying "I need to wait on this next guest". Excuse me: I was a guest! This is an excellent choice when visiting the Williamsburg, VA area.
